Nathan & Becca Allen

Rebecca Allen (Becca)

Where are you from?

The Beautiful North East, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Why are you in Loughborough?

The short story is that we didn’t know where to go after we got married
and graduated from Bangor University in 2012! We had prayed about it
for months and constantly had confirmation that God hadn’t forgotten us.
After 2 months of not having a house after our wedding, we heard a talk
on interpreting God’s will. Among other things, the guy said that God
gave us common sense for a reason, so use it. It made common sense to
move to Loughborough near my brother and it made sense to be in the
centre of the country during a period that my husband, Nathan, applied
for jobs nationwide. After staying with my brother for a week, we had a
great flat, Nathan had a job, and we had had confirmation from King’s
Church that God wanted us there. Bosh!

Tell us something quirky about yourself?

I hate weird textures.

Tell us about your family?

I’m married to Nathan who is senior environmental consultant but almost
my whole family live in the north! My brother, his wife and daughter
moved back up there from Loughborough. I often get jealous of their
beach visits! My mum unfortunately passed away in 2014 and my dad lives
in Newcastle with Sue, married in 2019.

What are you passionate about?

I absolutely love the outdoors, adventuring, camping, surfing. I am also
really passionate about music. I really believe in its ability to connect you
to God in a really special way. Currently, I am attempting to learn the
piano. More recently, I have been growing a passion for helping our young
people to connect with and have a strong relationship with God, although
most of the time I just like hanging out with them (it makes me feel not
30…)

Nathan Allen

Where are you from?

I am from the beautiful City of Wolverhampton!

Why are you in Loughborough?

Becca (my wife) is better at telling this story but sort of ended up here
after getting married, got a job, and a flat within the first 2 weeks of
landing here and stayed because the people are nice!

Tell us something quirky about yourself?

Ironically, being based in land-locked Loughborough, one of my
favourite hobbies is surfing and my job requires me to have a calibrated
nose.

Tell us about your family?

I am married to Becca Allen who is a teacher. My mom and dad are now
retired and live in Spain, which makes for nice cheap holidays and my
grandparents live in a tiny village in the Peak District.

What are you passionate about?

I believe everyone deserves to be supported and loved so I am passionate
about seeing people become the best person they can be, whatever the
age. I love working with young people and helping them to find out more
about their own identity in Jesus. I am a massive Newcastle United fan
and even though I am not technically gifted in anyway, I have a passion
for watching almost every sport (except snooker) – BBC sport is the most
used app on my phone!
